PrologueCatalogue 7

ARVIN SADIK, former director of the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, now a private art dealer and consultant, is pleased to present this, his sixth catalog.

Sadik, an internationally recognized authority on American art now doing business as Marvin Sadik Fine Arts, Inc, is based , appropriately enough, in Scarborough, Maine, a stone's throw from Winslow Homer's studio at Prout's Neck. The business specializes in exceptional examples of American and European art of the Seventeenth, Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries. Offerings also include Islamic and Asian works of art, significant historical material, autographs and manuscripts.

LAWRENCE HAYDEN has been a member of the firm since 1996 and directs new projects and development. With an extensive background in museum and gallery operations as well as art handling and conservation, Mr. Hayden's wide range of skills is a fitting complement to Mr. Sadik's knowledge and experience.
