HIS wonderfully made pierced steel pomander with its hinged top and elegantly simple snap closure is an object of masterful design and craftsmanship. The intertwined tendrils of its foliation remind one of some of the metalwork often seen in the great ornamented locks on chests of the time, but here the elements swirl together into a magical cosmos of its own.
