 Another example of this carte de visite is in the Homer family photograph album in the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. A much enlarged reproduction of the protrait is the frontispiece of the catalogue, Winslow Homer, Paintings of the Civil War, an exhibition organized by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in 1988.
 Accompanying the autograph signature, the letters N.A. indicate Homer's membership in the National Academy to which he was admitted in 1865.
