  | JAMES McARDELL (1728-1765) The Most learned Aaron Hart, Rabbi aged 81, 1751 Mezzotint, 14 x 9 3/4 inches member of the so-called 'Dublin Group', McArdell became one of Britain's most accomplished mezzotinters, even though he died at the poetic age of 37. Reynolds, many of whose paintings were copied in mezzotint by McArdell, said of him, 'By this man I shall be immortalized.'
Long enthusiasts of the art of the mezzotint, this is the first example of a Jewish subject we have ever come across.
